New book honors Jo Smith
An American River Journal, newest publication of the American River Natural History Association, features dozens of wildlife drawings by the late Jo Glasson Smith, widely respected naturalist, illustrator and ARNHA co-founder. Nature essays are by Peter Hayes, retired newspaper editor. Peter also wrote the essays for An American River Almanac; Reflections on nature throughout the year, our exquisite coffee-table style book.
ARNHA published the volume in memory of Jo, who died December 2008, and as a tribute to both Jo and Peter who, as longtime volunteer members of the publication committee, have been key to fulfilling our mission of bringing nature to people and people to nature.
